My Great Aunt Sal traveled to many different countries. On one of her visits to the Netherlands, she bought this pin. I was delighted when she gave it to me (I was just a small child). I have always loved it because of the sweet wooden shoes! I wish I knew what it said on the pin...can anyone tell me?

ReplyDeleteHow darling.
ReplyDeleteI think Madurodan is a miniature city attraction in the Netherlands. I think.
ReplyDeleteI don't know, either, but it is a cute pin!
ReplyDeleteThat's so nice. I don't know what it says though.
ReplyDeleteI ran across your blog, by reading another one.
I like it. I hope you visit my blog sometime.

Hi! I loved your comment on my blog with the birdies..thank you so much! And, as I do live in the Netherlands, I can tell you what is written on the pin. In fact, I had the same, when I was a little girl! I suddenly remembered as I saw this one.. It says Madurodam. Maduro was a man that originaly came from the sout american Island of Curacao (still a colony of the Netherlands)and he was a very good person in the war. Like a hero. So, when people desidet to create a miniature park, with all famous places of the Netherlands, they called the park Madurodam. I think that you can google http://www.madurodam.nl/default.php?language=1&sqlmode=1&fid=479 than you can find an english website about this park. Keep the pin safe!
ReplyDeleteLove from the Netherlands,
