Hello blogging friends...hope you all are doing well today! I've been busy looking for things to paint black and this is one of my recent projects. I found these metal tiles at Wal-mart in the clearance section last year. Again, I never did anything with them. Was thinking that they be great with old pictures mounted on them and that is just what I did. I figured that painting them black would work better with my decor so I slapped on a coat of paint (I found two tiles).

They're nice in white, but much better in black!

I scanned two old pictures of my dh and his brothers and mounted them on scrapbooking paper. Next I mounted them on the tiles. I'm really happy with the results. Sorry that the pictures are a little dark...I was trying to get a closeup.

This last picture shows them on a shelf in a cupboard that is in our powderroom.

Thanks for stopping by...I love the company. And, if you want to see the bench I'm thinking of painting, then go to my other blog to see the picture I posted. Have a great weekend!
They look great Kim!
ReplyDeleteBlack is addicting isnt it?
I think that black makes all the other colors "POP!". I painted my front door black this week. It matches my black shutters. I'll have to post some pictures. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the tile and the picture!
Hi Kim -
ReplyDeleteI love the way you used those tiles. What a great idea! And I love your framed keys, too. Many years ago my dear mother began to frame fancy, old keys in wonderful frames. She still will do an occasional key picture for special people. I have one she did for me, as well as a framed shoe button hook and shoe buttons. They are stored somewhere in the garage. I took them down when we painted the living room and I haven't found that one last box yet! Hopefully I'll find it soon because I'm working my way through everything and getting rid of unneeded things. I SHOULD find that box out there eventually. When I do, I'll show it to you.

Hi Kim,
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting the link to Cobblestone Farms. She has a lovely blog and I look forward to visiting there.
Your tins are darling! What a clever idea to put your pictures on them.
I hope you are enjoying your weekend!
Sincerely ~ Tricia Anne
Oh yes, I think everything looks better with a little black paint. Funny, I remember in the 60's when my mom painted everything olive and then the 70's she painted everything gold. Someday my kids will laugh at all my black furniture. . . but until then. . . I'm painting it all black :)

ReplyDeleteOh Kim,

I love your idea. Putting the photo's on the tile was soo cool.
I would love to do something like that. I especially love the vintage cowboy photo.
I am glad I found you again. I'll be visiting again soon.
Have a Blessed Sunday.

Just love that black! It really does make them look nicer. Black does that to things. I love old keyes and they look so cute in the frame like you used them. I have mine hanging on a ring on my bookshelves.
